Connecting with our Nation's Governors

Democratic Governors Association

On February 25, Share Our Strength partnered with Democratic and Republican Governors on events during the National Governor's Association Conference in Washington, DC. Share Our Strength chef advocates wowed Democratic Governors at the Taste of America Gala, while mixologists served up craft cocktails at a reception for Republican Governors. The participating chefs and mixologists who traveled across the country for this event helped to connect even more of our state leaders with the No Kid Hungry Campaign—and we're grateful!

Rogue Sessions for No Kid Hungry

Chef RJ Cooper was on medical leave but his D.C. restaurant, Rogue 24, was rocking!  For a two-month period, many of RJ's friends – including Spike Gjerde (Woodberry Kitchen), Jennifer Carroll (Carroll Couture Cuisine) and John Currence (City Grocery Restaurant Group) – took turns manning the kitchen, while also raising money for Share Our Strength. Killed by Dessert

After a twitter discussion on their favorite food and drinks, top pastry chefs from NYC and SF came together for Killed By Dessert, a 12-course extravaganza to support Share Our Strength. Christina Tosi (Momofuku Milk Bar) hosted fellow pastry chefs Bill Corbett (The Absinthe Group), Brooks Headley (Del Posto), Francisco Migoya (Culinary Institute of America), Lincoln Carson (The Mina Group) and Michael Laiskonis (formerly Le Bernardin) in the kitchen at Momofuku Milk Bar Commissary in Brooklyn for a cocktail reception featuring their favorite savory canapés, followed by a 12 course all-pastry dinner inspired by the chefs' personal favorite dishes, techniques and ideas. Join The Social Media Pledge Day

Join Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Bryan Voltaggio and other chefs supporting our No Kid Hungry Spring Pledge Drive on Tuesday, March 20. That day, our celebrity and chef supporters will be sharing their social media strengths to ask their followers to take the No Kid Hungry Pledge. Our goal is to get 5,000 individuals to take the No Kid Hungry Pledge that day. Important legislation is coming up in Congress this spring that will affect hungry kids and we need as many No Kid Hungry Pledge Takers as possible at the ready to take action on their behalf. Want to use your social media influence for good that day and also be featured on the website for the event? Email Emily Byram and tell her you're in!
