Beginning June 14, I’ll be journeying from Santa Barbara to San Diego in a way that will shock many of you. No doubt, I am a traveler – always have been and always will be. From my days in grade school grinding on a skateboard, to my glory high school and college days stylin’ in my ‘85 VW Jetta, to my time at California Culinary Academy where I got around on a $300 ladies magnet – a Honda Elite scooter – to now, where I spend many a day in planes, trains and automobiles traveling around the country in search of the next great Arby’s sandwich.
But I digress. Today I am training hard in support of the No Kid Hungry 2015 Chef’s Cycle Program. I’m committed to making a nearly 300-mile journey in super tight shorts with 20-plus other chefs atop nothing more than two rail thin wheels! All this to support a cause very close to my heart – ending childhood hunger in America. As a proud member of the Arby’s Brand for 10 years and counting, and in support of the philanthropic arm of our company, The Arby’s Foundation, I’m excited to partner closely with No Kid Hungry to help kids get access to the food they need to learn, grow and succeed in today’s society.
As part of the program, I’ve set a personal fundraising goal of $10,000 to benefit No Kid Hungry, which I’m hoping with your help I can far exceed! For every $1 donated, you are helping connect a child with up to 10 meals. I encourage everyone to follow my journey at #ChefsCycle where I’ll be documenting my adventure with videos and photos along the way. And don’t worry, part of my rigorous training program includes polishing up my Tweeting while biking skills. Your consideration and support of this effort means the world to me – I will make you all proud!
